Common HVAC Repair Costs

Many HVAC service calls involve components that simply wear out over time. These repairs are often quick to complete and, when caught early, can prevent a much bigger problem down the road. We see these issues regularly, and our technicians come fully equipped to handle them efficiently.

Here's what you can generally expect to pay for common HVAC repairs:

Capacitor Replacement: $374–$468

Capacitors give your system's motors the electrical boost they need to start. They're one of the most frequent culprits when a system suddenly stops turning on.

Contactor Replacement: $374–$468

This small but important switch tells your outdoor unit when to run. Wear and electrical damage are common causes of failure.

Refrigerant Recharge: $300–$1,800

When your system is low on refrigerant, we'll recharge it and diagnose why levels dropped in the first place (because a recharge alone isn't a long-term fix if there's a leak involved).

Condensate Drain Line Clearing: $142–$468

A clogged drain line can cause water damage or trigger an automatic system shutoff. Clearing it is often a straightforward fix.

Thermostat Replacement: $320–$1,900

Pricing depends on the type of thermostat you choose. A basic programmable unit is on the lower end, while a smart thermostat with Wi-Fi connectivity falls on the higher end.

Flame Sensor Cleaning or Replacement: $230–$600

If your furnace's burners won't stay lit, a dirty or failing flame sensor may be the reason. This is one of the more common furnace repairs we handle each winter.

Blower Motor Repair or Replacement: $894–$1,400

Your blower motor is responsible for moving conditioned air through your home. When it fails, you'll notice it because rooms won't heat or cool evenly; airflow may even stop altogether.

Mid-Range HVAC Repairs

Some repairs involve larger components or more labor-intensive work. These services are more costly than routine fixes, but still considerably less expensive than a full system replacement.

When repairs start reaching the mid-range in cost, it's worth having a conversation about your system's age and long-term condition. We'll give you our honest professional opinion,  whether that's recommending repair or helping you weigh the option of replacement.

Evaporator Coil Replacement: $2,200–$4,800

When the indoor coil develops a refrigerant leak that can't be repaired, the coil itself needs to be replaced. This is a more involved job but can extend the life of an otherwise healthy system.

Condenser Fan Motor Replacement: $894–$1,700

This motor keeps your outdoor unit from overheating. When it fails, your system can't run efficiently, or at all, especially on hot days.

Control Board Replacement: $894–$1,700

Think of the control board as your system's brain. It coordinates all the major functions, so when it fails, your system may behave erratically or not run at all.

Gas Valve Replacement: $894–$1,700

The gas valve controls fuel flow to your furnace. It's a critical component that requires careful handling.

AC Refrigerant Leak Repair: $1,130–$4,000

The cost of a refrigerant leak repair varies widely depending on where the leak is located, how severe it is, and what type of refrigerant your system uses. We'll diagnose the issue before recommending a repair path.
